Description
View of a medieval defensive feature in the La Petit France district of Strasbourg, France. The photo was taken from the viewing terrace of the Barrage Vauban, looking toward three of the four defensive towers of the River Ill, which date to the thirteenth century. The bridges were at one time covered with wooden roofs, thus the name Ponts Couverts. In the distance you can see the lone spire of the Cathedral.
This section of Strasbourg is a Unesco World Heritage Site. It features many original half timber houses along with the famed Cathedral. It is a center of tourism in the Alsace region.
